General information on Broomsfast Segments
Flat Segments (also known as Wafers or Sections) generally come filled with either
Polypropylene known as Poly bristles or Wire bristles.
Generally the best option is to make up a full poly broom, especially if you don’t need to
replace your broom often. We also supply re-usable spacers, which makes removal of the segments
much easier and they space the segments apart at a distance that is optimal for sweeping.
However for branded “Bobcat sweepers” (not other skid steers) Wobbly /convoluted broom segments
are used therefore spacers are not required.
The Internal Diameter (I/D) of the Pin drive segments are generally 130mm (5″) and go up to 250mm (10″) with
Overall Diameters commonly 508mm (20″), 610mm (24″) and 860mm (34″)
with other sizes available on request.
Segments with Square drives of 32mm (1 1/4″), 40mm (1 1/2″), and 52mm (2″) come in either 508mm (20″) or
610mm (24″) Overall Diameter (O/D).
The Internal Diameter (I/D) of the Wobbly broom segments are commonly 162mm (6 3/8″), 205mm (8″) and
250mm (10″) with Overall Diameters commonly 508mm (20″), 560mm (22″), 660mm (26″) and 810mm (32″)
Approximately 23 Flat Segments & 22 Spacers are installed per metre of shaft
segments code ref.
